Azerbaijani, Iraq Hold Key Talks at UN
In a statement from Azerbaijan’s presidency, Rashid praised Aliyev for the progress made in peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and acknowledged the recent normalization agreement signed in Washington. “Rashid congratulated Aliyev over the advancement in peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan and their normalization agreement signed in Washington,” the statement confirmed.
Aliyev expressed his appreciation for Rashid’s remarks and pledged that Baku would persist in promoting the peace process. He also highlighted the significant involvement of US President Donald Trump, describing his role in the Washington talks as “special.”
The discussions further covered the function of the intergovernmental commission aimed at enhancing collaboration between Baku and Baghdad, particularly in sectors such as energy and tourism, the statement noted.
Additionally, both leaders exchanged views on joint efforts within international bodies including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement.
